                             Secretariat Minutes
April 2, 2016                                              West Plains UMC
Meeting called to order by Rector Bob Legler, opening with the prayer for the Gift of the Holy Spirit.
Members is attendance: Bob Legler, Carri Hastings, Jeanne Richardson, Cindy Shelley, David Gilmer, Barb Groves.
Others in attendance: Deanna Cheek, Wayne Cheek, Vickie Gilmer, Denise Schnabl, Carol Lansdown, Nikkia Lansdown, Doris Heistand, Amy Turner, Wanda Byrd, Gene Hastings.

Minutes were sent by e-mail to Secretariat members. Motion made by David Gilmer, seconded by Carri Hastings to approve. Motion carried. Bob asked if this worked well to do approve minutes before the meeting and all agreed it did.
Deanna will send out the minutes ASAP and we will wait 3 days for all to be able to respond. The first to respond should move to approve and the second to respond should second the motion. Bob will call for the vote. When all have responded, Vicki will post the minutes on the website.

The men’s weekend rector has had to resign; Brad Groves has graciously agreed to fill the position. David will keep in touch with Brad to see if he needs help.

Bob said that Bill Love and Robin Reeder have been added to the committee to review the bylaws.

Bob suggested that we need to write letters of appreciation to pastors and churches for allowing the use of their facilities for Consunos and Weekends. Amy suggested adding the church secretaries to that as they put in a lot of work arranging these with the churches. All agreed that this is a good idea. Vicki and Barb will take care of this.
We discussed getting people to visit churches and explain that Camino is for mature Christians and that we are training people to be leaders in their own churches. There needs to be a group of three or four to go out; this should be done in different areas of our Camino community. Bob will contact Max and Ruby Richmond to get this process started. Pastors may recommend who to send out.

Meeting closed with prayer by Barb Groves.
Submitted by Deanna Cheek, Secretary

Motion to accept minutes: David Gilmer
Second: Carri Hastings
Motion passed and voted.

Treasurer’s Report: $2102.29 in the HEC account.

Testimony

  • Camino:   I've repeatedly seen the transforming effects of this ministry in the lives of Christian folks around the region.  While it does not endorse a faith group (denomination) it strongly encourages everyone to become active in their local church by attending, giving, and sharing their faith.  There is ample opportunity for individual expressions of faith and enormous time blocked out for just hearing God's word publicly read. That's refreshing.  If you participate in Camino you will, inevitably be challenged to grow.  That is both scary and exciting.  I know of people leading in their church, preaching, teaching, singing, and serving who were only "bench-warmers" prior to Camino.  It is encouraging and life-changing.  God is Good!
